Logo moss art turns up in reception areas, boardrooms, tasting rooms, and behind the bar in restaurants. It's a company name or mark cut into a panel and set against preserved moss — more like a piece of art than signage, which is generally the point.
Here's how one gets made.
1. Send Us the Logo
Vector is best — an .ai, .eps, .svg, or vector .pdf. That's a file that scales without going fuzzy, and it's what your designer will have.
If all you have is a PNG or a photograph of a sign, send it anyway. We can usually redraw it, and we'll tell you if we can't.
2. We'll Tell You If It Will Work
Not every logo translates. This is the honest part of the conversation and it happens early.
Works well: bold shapes, solid lettering, simple marks, single-weight type.
Struggles: hairline strokes, fine serifs, gradients, drop shadows, tightly nested detail, and anything relying on more than two colours to be readable.
The constraint is physical. A shape cut into a panel needs enough width to survive being cut and to read from across a room. Very fine detail either breaks during cutting or disappears at viewing distance.
Where a logo is too detailed, we'll usually suggest simplifying it — a wordmark instead of the full lockup, or the icon alone.
3. Choosing Size
Size is driven by viewing distance more than wall size.
- 12–18 inches — read from a few feet. Meeting rooms, small offices.
- 24 inches — read across a room. Reception walls, behind a desk.
- 36 inches and up — read on entry. Lobbies, large reception areas, restaurant walls.
A useful check: if your logo has text, the smallest letter should be at least an inch tall at 24 inches of panel. Below that it stops reading.
4. Frame and Moss
Solid wood frame in black, white, dark wood, or light wood. Black and dark wood recede and let the moss carry the piece; white and light wood sit more forward.
Moss comes in dark green, light green, or mixed. Dark green gives the highest contrast against a cut logo, which matters if legibility is the priority. Mixed moss has more depth and movement but slightly softer edges.
For a logo panel we'd usually recommend dark green unless you specifically want the texture.
5. You Approve a Proof
Before anything is cut, we send you a proof — your logo, at size, on your chosen frame and moss. Nothing gets made until you've signed it off.
This is deliberate. These are one-off pieces made to your specification and they can't be returned, so the proof is where mistakes get caught rather than after delivery.
6. We Build It
The mark is cut, the frame is finished, and the moss is worked in by hand around it. Larger panels take longer, and the moss work is the slow part — packing it densely enough to read as one continuous surface without bleeding over the cut edges.
Lead Time
3 to 4 weeks from proof approval for a standard panel, 4 to 6 for large or multi-panel work.

What It Costs
Logo work is quoted individually, because it depends on size, complexity of the cut, and frame. As a rough guide, a personalised panel starts around where our standard custom wall art sits and rises with size and detail.
