Preserved Moss Bowl – Maintenance Free Concrete Centerpiece Lasts 8+ Years

A concrete bowl filled with preserved moss, in white or grey. The concrete gives it weight and a quiet modern edge — an alternative to wood for rooms where a dough bowl would read too rustic.

The Design

A hollow-cast concrete vessel, which keeps the weight manageable, filled by hand in our Sonoma County studio with preserved moss packed densely across the full width so the surface reads as one continuous cushion.

Choosing Between Our Two Concrete Bowls

We also make a solid concrete bowl in 12" and 15", cast by hand in our studio. It weighs around 15 lb and takes 10–14 days, because solid concrete has to cure fully before it can be filled.

This one is hollow-cast, so it is lighter, comes in two colours, and ships sooner. Choose it if you want a lighter piece, a colour option, or a faster turnaround.

Uses

Coffee tables, dining tables, console tables, and conference rooms. The 13" suits desks, nightstands, and smaller surfaces; the 17.5" works as a statement piece on a dining or coffee table.

A practical choice for offices and interior rooms with little natural light, where a living plant wouldn't survive.

Care

• No watering, sunlight, or pruning required
• Indoor display only
• Keep out of direct sunlight and away from moisture — avoid bathrooms and other consistently humid rooms
• Dust with a hairdryer on a low, cool setting
• Use a felt pad or mat underneath on delicate surfaces — concrete can mark wood
• Typical display life is 8+ years indoors

Is the Moss Real?

Yes. It's real moss that has been preserved rather than dried or faked, so it keeps its natural texture, softness, and colour variation. It doesn't grow, and it doesn't need water or light.

Handmade Variation

Moss colour, density, and arrangement vary between pieces, and the concrete carries its own tonal variation. Yours will not be identical to the photograph.

Natural Scent

Preserved moss carries a mild organic scent for the first days after unpacking. This is normal and fades. It is not a defect, and we don't accept returns on this basis.

If Something Arrives Damaged

Email wendy@rootsofearthco.com within 48 hours with photographs of the piece and the packaging, and keep the box. Shipments are insured and we will make it right.

Returns

Each piece is made to order, so we don't accept returns or exchanges. If anything is wrong with your order, contact us — we would always rather fix it than leave you unhappy.
